We live in a very complex era, full of rapid changes, tensions, psychological pressures and the dominance of matter over values, and this constitutes a suitable climate for the increase in mental disorders, mental illnesses and behavioral deviations, which makes the field of psychology and mental health of the individual and society an important and purposeful field for studying human behavior in its various manifestations and trying to understand it, This makes it imperative for educators, researchers, professors, educators, doctors, specialists, psychotherapists and all those working in this field to help individuals, whether they are students, workers in a particular institution, or the general public, to overcome psychological problems.

The Department of Psychology seeks to activate communication between the visitor and the department to solve all psychological problems facing society, It is one of the academic departments in the Faculty of Arts Al-Asab, Gharyan University, because of its academic and scientific capabilities, qualified human cadres and study plans, as it seeks to provide services to university students and society, as it is the main pillar in the education process in the college and university at the bachelor's and master's levels.

Description


The Department of Psychology is one of the academic departments in the Faculty of Arts and is considered a key pillar in the education process in the college at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, through which faculty members seek to develop and provide services to college students and develop them through a group of faculty members in several fields. 

Vision


Through holding many meetings at the beginning of each semester or academic year in the Department of Psychology, in which very important issues and topics such as academic supervision, developing the vocabulary of the subjects and emphasizing the role of organized teamwork are raised and discussed. Hence, the department's vision and aspirations are embodied in the following points:

 The department aspires to have a role that is not limited to what is given in the classroom, but seeks to highlight its role in other areas of life (family, social, cultural, educational and educational ... etc) and this is what has been achieved.

 Competing with the rest of the other departments in the college through hard work for the success of the educational process the department looks forward to conducting many active participations to discuss negative phenomena, psychological pressures and wrong behaviors to treat them through scientific seminars and panel discussions.

Mission


Preparing graduates equipped with the assets of scientific knowledge and highly trained in specialization skills, so that the department's programs suit modern changes by investing human resources and cadres and their research capabilities in solving environmental problems and community service.

Goals


  1. Delving into the study of the psychological aspect of the human being and identifying the skills and abilities he possesses and trying to develop them in aspects of psychological and social life.
  2. Shedding light on important segments of society, especially people with special needs, gifted people and kindergartens, and in-depth personal study and other topics related to the life of the individual and his psychological security.
  3. Focusing on teaching the basics and correct scientific research methods that ensure the preparation of a student who can use the tools of the research process well to complete a graduation project or scientific research that will benefit from it in the future and give remedies to the problems in society.
  4. Providing students with the study material and giving advice, guidance and guidance to the problems and difficulties they face.
  5. Providing specialized consultations on psychological phenomena and issues and wrong behaviors and trying to treat them and contribute to enriching the psychological culture of members of society.
  6. Enlightening students about the importance of theoretical study materials and trying to link them to practical aspects, and this is reflected in the study and understanding of mental illness through field visits to hospitals and clinical clinics.
